Fresh Homegrown Flavor
Located outside of Galena, Illinois, in the rolling hills of Jo Daviess County near the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, the Galena Homestead is in the heart of America’s “bread basket.” The area’s rich soils, lush pastures and humid continental climate, produce a bountiful pleasure of natural delights.
Katahdin Hair Sheep are bred, not for their wool, rather the rich flavorful taste of the meat. Prized by chefs for their "bright clean" taste, Katahdin meat is naturally mild in flavor often described as savory, creamy and peppery. Our lambs receive just the perfect balance of natural grasses and wholesome grains.
Each year, we make available several of our spring born lambs. The lambs weight between 90 lb & 110 lbs yielding approximately 50 lb of processed meat. Delivery to local butchers can be arranged. Pre-ordering is strongly recommended. Please use the Contact Us section of the Web site for more information.
